Memory Competition Terms & Conditions:
  1. These rules and any other rules specified by Legal-Island (hereafter referred to as “the company”) apply to Beat The Director Northern Ireland Memory Championships (hereafter referred to as “the competition”).  By taking part in the competition, you agree to be bound by the competition rules, and by the decisions of the company  which are final in all matters relating to the competition.  Legal-Island reserves the right to disqualify any entrant and/or winner at its discretion for any reason in accordance with the competition rules.
  2. To be eligible for the competition, you must be 16 or over on the 5th June 2010 and have been either born in Northern Ireland or currently be a resident in Northern Ireland.  At competition heats, you will be required to provide the following: Photographic proof of identification in the form of a passport or driving licence and an original birth certificate; or a utility bill from the last 3 months plus a passport or driving licence. Failure to produce the above at the heat stage of the competition will result in disqualification and forfeit of entry fee.
  3. All entries and payment of £30 registration fee must be received online through the official competition websitewww.beatthedirector.com.  Only the first 70 entries will be accepted and any incomplete entries will be disqualified.  All monies raised through entrance fees will be donated to the NI Alzheimer’s Society
  4. All participants must be available for heats taking place on the weekend of 19th & 20th June 2010.  Participants must also be available for the final on Saturday 26th June 2010.
  5. A maximum of seventy (70) competitors will be invited to heats taking place on Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th June 2010 at the Island House Training Centre, Antrim.  This will be determined by the first seventy (70) people to complete the online registration satisfactorily.  The top eleven (11) competitors from the heats will take part in the final held on Saturday 26th June 2010.
  6. By entering the competition you:
  7. Grant the company, and any third parties appointed by the company for the purpose of organising and/or managing the competition and the competition sponsor(s) permission to use your name and likeness for announcing the winner of the competition and for related promotional purposes; and
  8. Grant the company and the competition sponsor(s) the right to use your personal information to send you information about their respective products/services which may be of interest to you.
  9. Accept that all entries become the property of the company upon receipt and will not be returned.  You will retain all rights you have in the copyright and other intellectual property rights comprising the competition entry but, by entering the competition, you grant the company and its licensees the right free of charge to republish your competition entry.
  10. Waive any moral or similar rights you have in your competition entry whether such rights arise pursuant to the Copyright, Designs or Patent Act 1988 (the “act”) or equivalent legislation anywhere in the world.
  11. Give permission for all heats and the final of the competition to be recorded.
  12. ‘Winners’ will be deemed to be anyone who has ‘beaten the director’ in the competition, subject to a maximum of eleven (11).  The winner(s) will each receive a cheque for £1000, payable within one week of the final made out in the same name as received on the initial application.
  13. If you are a winner, you may have to provide additional information (including, without limitation, proof of age, identity, address, NI citizenship) and/or complete additional documents within the required time period, or notification returned as undeliverable as addressed will result in your disqualification as a winner.
  14. The name(s) of the winner(s) and details of the winning entry or entries will be sent to anyone who requests the same within three (3) months of the closing date of the competition.  Requests should be sent to Island House, Station Road, Antrim, BT41 1BN and should be accompanied by a stamped addressed envelope.
  15. The receipt by you of any prize is conditional of you complying with any and all the applicable laws, rules and regulations including, without limitation, competition rules;
  16. You acknowledge and agree that neither the company or any competition sponsor(s) or any of their employees, agents or subcontractors shall have any liabilities to you whatsoever in connection with your use and/or possession of your prize, provided that nothing in these competition rules  shall exclude or limit the liability of any party for personal injury or death caused by negligence or anything else which cannot be excluded or limited by law.
  17. If any of these rules are deemed to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable, the affected rules shall be deleted from these competition rules but the remaining rules shall continue in full force and effect.
  18. Please Note: ‘Director’ is Barry Phillips, Managing Director of Legal-Island. All monies raised through entry fees will be donated to Northern Ireland Alzheimers. A sample deck of playing cards will be supplied to all 70 competitors in advance.  Competitors cannot use their own cards on the day.
